Blog #14 - Interview 3 Preparation

"What are the most effective strategies a shelter can use to increase the chances that an animal will be adopted?"

1. Who do you plan to interview? What is this person's area of expertise?

2. Verify that you have called your interviewee to schedule an interview. What is the date and time of the interview?

I have not scheduled my interview with her yet.

3. Phrase an open-ended question that will help you find research resources that would help to answer the EQ.

"Have you ever searched online, took any courses, or seen anything informational that helped you manage Priceless Pets? If so what was it? Do you recommend anything that I should read?"

4. Phrase an open-ended question that will help you think about other useful activities you might do to help you answer the EQ (IC2, possible experts to talk to, etc).

"To answer my EQ, " ", what would you recommend me to do to better understand adoption?"

5. Phrase two open-ended questions that help you to understand your interviewee's perspective on an aspect of your EQ.

"Was there ever a hard case for you to find a family to adopt? Can you tell me what could've helped with the adoption?"

"What have you noticed that usually gets a potential adopter take home a dog or cat?"

"When it comes to the whole shelter environment, what are some important things to you?"

I generally cleaned cat and dog kennels, walked dogs, and socialized with the animals at the shelter. We really do work well together - almost always there's another volunteer to help with the shelter so it's great. I plan to complete my remaining hours is to try and make my visits weekly once again and hopefully make my weekends more available to be there more often.

Blog #12 - Holiday Project Update

1. It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school. What did you do over the break with your senior project?

I continued to with my volunteer hours with my mentor at the Priceless Pets shelter over the break.

2. What was the most important thing you learned from what you did, and why? What was the source of what you learned?

I learned that working at a shelter takes team work and communication with caution and care for the animals living or visiting the shelter. My source was from my mentorship with over 30 hours experience of volunteering there.

3. Your third interview will be a 10 question interview related to possible answers for your EQ. Who do you plan to talk to and why?

I plan to ask my mentor because she has witnessed and handled many adoptions with her about 3 year experience of being an adoption manager for Priceless Pets.
